2019 QUILT SHOW CATEGORY DEFINITIONS

Theme: “A Wee Bit Wooly”

 

 

100 Theme Quilt

 

       Quilt should reflect the theme “Its A Wee Bit Wooly”. Minimum width 60”.

 

200 Small Theme Quilt

 

       Quilt should reflect the theme “Its A Wee Bit Wooly”. Width LESS than 60”.

​

300 Hand Quilted

       

      Quilted by hand, Minimum width 60”.

 

400 Domestic Machine Quilted

 

       Quilted on a sit down, stationary/traditional sewing machine. Minimum width 72”. Quilter’s hands move the fabric. This is not a long arm or short arm quilting machine.

 

500 Long Arm Quilted by Maker

 

       Quilted by the same person that pieced the quilt. Minimum width 72”. Computer or pattern may be used. Machine glides on a carriage frame. Fabric is still.

 

600 Long Arm Quilted by Other

 

       Quilted by a different person than the maker. Minimum width 72”. Computer or pattern may be used. Machine glides on a carriage frame. Fabric is still.

 

700 Long Arm Hand Guided

 

       Quilted by maker or other. Minimum width 72”. Quilter hand guides the machine as it glides on a carriage frame. No pattern or computer assistance. Fabric is still.

 

800 Hand Embroidered

 

       Hand Embroidery is the main focus of the quilt. Minimum width 60”.

 

900 Machine Embroidered

 

       Machine Embroidery is the main focus of the quilt. Minimum width 60”.

 

1000 Appliqué

 

       Appliqué is the main focus of the quilt. Any type of appliqué (hand stitched, needle turned, raw edges, fused, decorative machine stitched, etc.). Minimum width 60".

 

1100 Mixed Technique

 

        Three or more techniques are the focus of the quilt. Techniques may include: crazy quilting, trapunto, paper pieced, embroidery, embellishments, appliqué, beading. This list is not inclusive. Minimum width 60".

 

1200 Miniature Quilt or Wall Hanging

 

      Miniature is to scale. Maximum Perimeter is 80”.

1300 Small Quilt or Wall Hanging

​

   Maximum Perimeter is 140".

​

1400  Medium Quilt or Wall Hanging 

​

       Maximum perimeter is 210”.    

​

1500 Large Wall Hanging  

 

       Maximum perimeter is 270”. 

​

1600  Baby Quilt    

                

       Maximum width is 50”. Must have a juvenile /baby theme. 

​

1700  Fashion, Bags, Decorations, or Miscellaneous

​

      May need to fold to display.

​

1800 Original Art Quilt             

 

       One of a kind, non-traditional and designed completely by maker. 

​

1900 Original Design by  Maker        

 

       Unique pattern used in a traditional way.  Cannot copy works of others. Must provide design process. Need Show Chair's approval.

 

2000 Challenge Quilt     

         

        FQG Members only. Members participate in a Challenge as part of the quilt show and tied to the theme "It's a Wee Bit Wooly". Details of the Challenge rules in FQG February Newsletter.

2100 Junior Quilter                 

     

       Quilt made by a quilter under 18 years old. Display only. Can be sponsored by a member if member helped in the process.  Not required to attend kids camp to enter. There is no fee to enter in this category.

​

2200 Brown Bag  Challenge    

             

       We share the Challenge with Bigfork Quilt Guild every year. Item from any year that has not been previously shown. Display only.  Bigfork Guild members can enter with no cost in this category.    

 

Best of Show Ribbon – Viewer’s Choice from all categories except Junior Quilter and Brown Bag Challenge
