The Quilt Guild held a series of winter seminar days. The first seminar was Disappearing Blocks taught by Lanette Cuffe and assisted by RoseAnn Montgomery. The day was full of ideas and samples of things that can be done with contrasting block fabrics! The Black and White block samples showed us what could be created from the single set of instructions. The samples are beautifully shown in different sizes. And a completed quilt, created by Linda Hanson was finished in the few days after the seminar.
The Second session of the Seminar Series with the Guild was “A Day of Design with Gwen Carreon”. The day focused on several applique, design, patchwork, and thread options that can be used in making an elegant design. The basic design samples included 3 forms of applique, creating patchwork foundations, and developing stitch embellishment. Finishing the day was a tutorial on how to make good use of beading in design embellishment from Sally Glutting. Amazing work from 20 very creative people!
The third day of seminars was "A Day of “Play”, as the instructor, Monique Kleinhans, calls it! So many people signed up for this seminar—two workshops in one day! Luckily Monique has technology on her side. We were guided through the painting process with special ink blocks and intense pencils and then the afternoon was a different project that gave people the chance to do some thread painting on lutradur using different types of threads. It was a busy day for sure and we thank Monique for the guidance and excellent information she gave to all of us about threads, paints, inks, and composition!

Our activities and interests are as diverse as our 120 members – traditional and modern, hand and machine quilting - we do it all!
